CATALONIA IS IN OUR DNA

OUR FAMILY ADVENTURE

The history of Cuadrat Valley is closely linked to Catalonia. At the end of the 1930s, fleeing the Spanish war, Sebastià Cuadrat Realp, a native of L'Albagés, left the olive grove of his grandmother, Magdalena Sardà Florensa, and settled in Bordeaux. When eighty years later, in L'Albagés, an olive grove was up for sale, his granddaughter, Evelyne Cuadrat Teycheney, could not resist. With her husband Patrick Teycheney and their daughter Caroline, she decided to take up the family adventure where it had left off.

In 2014, they acquired several plots of land to create a 90-hectare estate in a single block, which they structured and managed using sustainable agriculture. Respectful to their tradition but attracted by innovation, they aim at producing a unique Extra Virgin olive oil classified as PDO Les Garrigues.

A RETURN TO THE LAND

In 2014, Evelyne, Patrick and Caroline Teycheney decided to take a new turn in their respective lives.

In Bordeaux, Patrick and Caroline took over the reins of the family's vineyard and acquired three estates in Saint-Emilion. Their ambition is to develop biodynamic grands crus.

In the Albagés, Evelyne, alongside her cousin Josep-Maria Cuadrat Alventosa, a renowned architect, decided to design an innovative project and rebuild the family estate. With the oil mill equipped with the most advanced technology in the world, her desire is to produce an extra virgin oil, with the same requirements of winemaking in Bordeaux "crus classés".

For Patrick, Evelyne and Caroline, there is indeed a common denominator between PDO olive oil and PDO Bordeaux wine: quality of the terroir, respect for soil and plants, team spirit to achieve this virtuous mission.
